First Congregational Church Welcomes You

We are looking forward to having you join us in person 10am Sundays.

First Congregational Church was founded 153 years ago by a small group of Congregationalist frontier settlers who called the Rev. Edwin Alden (of "Little House on the Prairie" fame) to be our first pastor back in 1868. Since then our congregation has perservered and sustained a ministry in the Waseca community and sought to glorify God by making an eternal impact for Jesus Christ in our community.

What We Do

Screen Shot 2021-01-26 at 2.44.27 PM.PNG

We trace our spiritual roots back to the Pilgrims on the Mayflower and affiliate ourselves with the NACCC - the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. We are an autonomous church which strongly values the participation and contribution of each member of our local fellowship. God has equipped and gifted each individual soul to fulfill their part in His church as we seek to minister the Gospel of Christ within our families and community. Each denomination has their own unique theological perspectives so we invite you to consider and discover the Congregational Way.

Ladies Friendly

We have a very active group of ladies within our congregation

who meet the first Wednesday of each month for fellowship

and to organize a wide variety of events and activities.

They take the lead to coordinate our pot lucks, Sunday Fellowship Coffee Hours, decorating the facility, host the Annual Salad Luncheon, prepare and serve ministerial soup luncheons, preparing

various church celebrations and funeral receptions. But they find

their greatest joy is making quilts for our high school graduates each year presented each Spring during our Quilt Blessing Service.

Youth Ministry

Children Ministry

We provide a blended style of musical worship with both hymns and praise choruses every Sunday morning at 10 am. We take seriously the ministry of God’s Word, reading and preaching from it each Sunday. The Bible is our rule of faith and practice, and by God’s grace we seek to conform our lives to it. We also share in corporate prayers and readings of significant Scriptures and writings like the Lord’s Prayer, the 23 Psalm, Exodus 34:6-8 and the Apostles’ Creed. We also offer First Steps of Faith during our morning services for our children to learn the Scriptures and grow in faith.

Bible Study

Studying God’s Word is crucially important for God’s people. We are currently working through a study of Galatians in our Sunday morning messages (you can view them in the video tab above) and we participate in a congregational reading plan. We also offer other Bible studies during the course of the year.

We are looking forward to the completion of the retaining walls and new landscape as Ian Pomeroy will be helping to organize and lead this project for his Eagle Scout Project. If you would like to make  any donations of plantings or monetary resources or if you have any questions you can contact the church office.
