StartsYouth Groups - our Youth Groups are called "Youth Chats" because we want them to be an opportunity for our students to explore and grow in their faith in dialog with our Pastor and youth leaders. Youth Chats and Confirmation meet on Wednesday with the exception of Early Out days where we take the week off for family time. Each Youth Chat starts with a snack and a beverage (students can earn a soft drink by memorizing Bible verses) and social period in our lower level, and then we transition into our Youth Room on the upper level for our Bible study portion. Youth Groups meet weekly during the school year, and at various times during the summer.
Youth chats begin September 13th.
4th-8th Grade Youth Chat meets from 3-4:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Students may ride bus #10 or #11 from the Middle School to the Central Building and then walk across the street to the church. If you need details on where and when please contact Pastor Chris. On weeks of an early out from school we try to do special service projects like singing at nursing homes, helping at the local food shelf, and may be making a trip to serve at a homeless shelter in MSP later this year. Chats start September 13th.
High School Youth Chat (9th-12th grades) meets from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Starts September 13th.
Confirmation - 9th grade students (primarily) are in a Confirmation Class that meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Confirmation is a time for our students to begin to fully take on their own faith and become self feeders in their study of the Bible. Our goal as a church is to equip our students to be passionate lifelong learners and servants in a local church. Upon completion of Confirmation students may become full voting members of First Congregational Church. Among the resources we use for Confirmation are the E-100 Bible Reading Challenge, Thom Rainers book "I Am A Church Member", and Wayne and Elliot Grudem's book "Christian Beliefs". Confirmation class starts September 13th.
UPCOMING YOUTH EVENTS
One other element we want to challenge one another with is to read "Pilgrim' Progress" by John Bunyan over the course of the next 12 weeks. One should be able to complete it by reading it for 15 - 20 minutes a day. There are 5 short quizzes - should you complete the book and pass the quizzes, you get to go to ValleyFair for FREE!
